When working on a presentation you should keep the following aspects in mind before you start. You should try and answer the following questions

Why? (your intention)

  • Think about the specific purpose of your presentation, especially about the
  • The result to want to achieve
    Tip: State it in one sentence clearly & concisely!

Who? (the people you are going to talk to)

  • Audience - who are they?
  • How man will be there?
  • Why are they coming?
  • What do they know about the subject?
  • Why are they interested in the subject?
  • What is their relationship to you?

What? (the content- what you have to say)

  • Organize your ideas, points, arguments and put them in a convincing order by using key cards, handouts, visuals etc.)
  • Structure your presentation
    • Think about an interesting beginning to capture interest, relate to the subject, give your purpose etc..
    • Main Body: Have three or four main points, use signposts and summaries
    • Conclusion or Ending: Think about an interesting ending (summaries & your conclusion etc..)

How? (communication techniques - verbal and non-verbal- communication). Always practice your presentation with friends, check timing etc.).

Where? (Make a list of "things to take and to check" )

  • List the things you need (key cards, handouts, technical equipment etc..)
  • Check the locations (room etc..) When - day, hours etc....
